We are the international headquarters of the International Kung Fu Arnis Association and the headquarters of all the Kung Fu and Arnis Academys under Grandmaster Rick Ward. The school is located in the western mountains of North Carolina and was opened in1985 and has been serving the area for over 24 years in Boone, N.C. This is a well organized academy that has dedicated itself to teaching quality martial arts with quality instructors that produce quality students. Our beginning Sil Lum Kung-Fu students learn basic stances, kicks, blocks, fist and open hand strikes, chin-na (sieze and control), and basic animal and weapon forms. These provide the student with a proper foundation for effective combat skills.
Intermediate students learn deflections, knife attack defenses, more weapons training, sweeps, takedowns, five animal forms, tong long (preying mantis) and hou (monkey) forms, basic self defense and fighting applications, free sparring, intermediate chin-na, chi gung, and self defense strategies.
Advanced students learn advanced fighting techniques and applications of many advanced animal and weapon forms, pressure point fighting techniques, advanced sweeps, takedowns and throws, ti tiang men (grand earth sect) ground fighting, multiple opponent strategy, chi gung, wai gung, nei gung, etc. Long-term learning possibilities are endless. The dedicated student will learn confidence, self-discipline, and build strength of body and character to create their own personal combat system.
Our beginning Sasamba (preying mantis) kali Arnis students learn basic stances, basic footwork and triangular footwork patterns, kicks, blocking, strikes [empty hand and with yantok (rattan stick) ], jujitsu joint locking, and free sparring (empty hand and stick).
The intermediate students learn weapon disarms [stick and gapas (knife)], intermediate joint locks using preying mantis attributes, striking styles, sinawali (weaving) drills, sweeps, takedowns, self defense strategies, and anyos (forms) and applications.
Advanced students learn advanced stances, ground fighting, counter techniques, sparring patterns, lock flows, spinning throws, pressure point applications, trapping using preying mantis trapping skills, knife fighting, tabak or espada (sword) fighting, espada y daga (sword and dagger), sibat (staff), and advanced weapons and applications. The dedicated student will learn confidence, self-discipline, and build strength of body and character to create their own personal combat system.
Our beginning Emperor's Long fist students learn basic stances, Hsing-I Wu Sing Chuan [ form and will (mind) boxing 5 element fist, Wu sing tui (5 element kicks ), Wu Sing Ghun ( 5 element Staff),Eight Mother Palms of Gong Ting Ba Kua Chang ( imperial court style of eight diagram palm ), Tai Tzu Tai Chi Chuan Shi ( Emperor Chiao Kuan Yin grand ultimate fist postures), Chi Gung ( internal energy work)which opens chi channels of the body, Wai Gung ( external work ), basic fist routines, and Chin Na Shou ( arresting siezing skills ).
The intermediate students learn Tan Tuei (springy Legs ), Lan Bu Chuan (consecutive stepping fist), Hsing-I 12 animal drill forms (Shaolin style), San Shi Lu Tai Chi Chuan (36 grand ultimate fist) form, Fighting applications, Iron Palm ( for select students), Tuei Shou (sticky hands ), controlled sparring ( empty hand and with weapons), Wu Sing Dao (broad sword), and intermediate Chin Na Shou.
Advanced students learn Preying Mantis, Tibetan Lama Style, Mongolian Shuai Jiao, Hsing-I 12 animals (sun style), Acupressure, Tui Na massage, Traditional Chinese Medicine ( for select students through the American Chinese Chi Gung Acupressure Association),Tuei Shou mobile, Advanced weapons, Advanced fighting Applications, Advanced Tai Chi Forms, Tai Chi Chi ( Tai Chi ruler), Jin (Tai Chi straight sword), Dao (broad sword) forms and applications, Advanced Chin Na Shou, Chi Gung, Wai Gung, Nei Gung, Shen Gung, Advanced Emperor's Long Fist Forms, and Tzu Jan Men ( natural school sect) system.
